FACTS - In the United States approximately 15% of couples experience difficulty with conception. Clinical research has indicated that acupuncture may have the following benefits:
Treatments Before: In Preparation for Pregnancy Prior to pregnancy our aim is to "cultivate the soil before planting the seed." Acupuncture and herbal treatments can enrich the blood of the uterine lining increasing optimizing conditions for implantation and a successful full-term pregnancy. During pregnancy the body requires additional Qi and blood to support the development of the fetus. Our treatments are designed to improve circulation, strengthen the Qi (vital energy), and nourish the blood of the patient. These treatments can improve hormonal balance and relieve stress to stimulate the body's natural healing processes. In some cases there may be obstructions in the channels of the body which inhibit pregnancy. In other cases there may insufficient Qi and blood available to support a full term pregnancy. In these cases our treatments will remove the obstructions and replenish the deficient substances. Our treatments focus on strengthening this capacity as well, alleviating any imbalances. Pre-Natal (During Pregnancy) After pregnancy occurs the patient can be treated with acupuncture during pregnancy in order to alleviate or prevent the following conditions:
· morning sickness Post-Natal Having a baby puts stress on the body due to the pain of childbirth and loss of blood. Acupuncture and herbal remedies help to restore the body, strengthening the Qi and replenishing the blood that is lost during childbirth. Acupuncture and herbal remedies can also help to expel retained lochia (afterbirth) if needed. Frequency & Duration Treatments are usually weekly for the first month and bi-weekly thereafter depending on the response to treatment. Herbal remedies prescribed are plant based dietary supplements that may be taken as a tea or in capsule form. |
